Ground Water Exploration

Basic Questions

    1. But how do you know where to drill?

Groundwater is found by drilling

    1. Is sufficient care taken in positioning boreholes?

Drilling can be so expensive

    1. How do you find the best aquifers?

If the survey area is large

Airborne geophysics can help you solve these problems

Traditional methods of siting boreholes

  • Siting by the driller
  • Water divining
  • Siting by a hydrogeologist or water engineer, having studied the local geology, geomorphology and satellite imagery
  • Geoground physicall survey – usually some form of electromagnetic depth surroundings to determine the variation of electrical conductivity with depth or seismic refraction to identify paleo-channels.
